Review Of County Jail Receives Good Marks Review Of County Jail Receives Good Marks

Roosevelt County commissioners said a walk-through of the county jail by commissioners and Montana Association of Counties officials went extremely well late in March.

Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained that a walk-through is required each year by Montana statute.

Commissioner Robert Toavs said the peer review resulted in an impressive score of 95 percent. The 5 percent of deficiencies mainly dealt with policy verbiage.

“They were impressed with the jail and the staff,” Toavs said. “We’re very, very happy that things went that well.”

During the weekly meeting held March 31, commissioners approved $14,645 to update the O’Briens and Scout Hill radio towers. The request was made by Disaster and Emergency Services. Commissioners approved transferring $10,000 from Brockton’s water fund to its sewer fund to cover the cost of a hook-up by Montana Dakota Utilities.

Tom Nichols was reappointed to the Wolf Point TV district board.

Five students were hired to work for the county fair during the summer. The students were Cejaye Flinn, Kendal Polland, Rylan Young, Flint Solem and Tyler Schmidt. In addition, Dahmoniq Ahneman-Wolff was hired for the detention center.
