Pirkle Stays Active At School, Work

Culbertson High School senior Leland Pirkle has busy days with commitments at both the school and for his job.

He has been employed at Zane Panasuk’s ranch, off and on, for about four years. His duties include working and feeding the cows.

Pirkle says he hasn’t thought about such a job until his stepdad was approached about Leland working on the ranch.

“I do like it a lot,” Pirkle said of the work.

During his time in high school, Pirkle has been involved in football, basketball and golf. He isn’t doing any sports this school year so he can focus on his job.

Hobbies for Pirkle include riding dirt bikes and playing video games.

His favorite class is government. “I like the history,” he said.

Pirkle’s favorite teacher is Dave Solem.

Pirkle has attended school in Culbertson since the fifth grade. He moved to northeastern Montana from Georgia.

After high school, he hopes to land a job in the oilfield.
