Froid Council Holds Meeting
The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting Feb. 9. Council members Gale Strandlund, Gregg Labatte and Tyler Harris were in attendance, as were Penny Ryder, Russ Corbell, Mayor Sheri Crain and clerk LeAnn Johnson.
The minutes from the Jan. 12 meeting were read aloud and approved by the council.
Public Works director Alan Engelke said MDU came and fixed the streetlight near the water tower. After strong winds, a garbage bin was found nearly a mile from town by Russell Bowker, who used his drone to find it.
Engelke said that water froze in one of the tanks at the depot, causing a large bulge in the top of the tank. The water line at the Mint Bar also froze recently and had its meter replaced.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office report was shared by deputy Russ Corbell. There were three calls for service during the first weeks of February and all were traffic violations.
The 2026 Arbor Day Proclamation was read aloud by Mayor Crain. The date of the annual celebration is set for May 13.
Penny Ryder addressed the council about the possibility of resurrecting a Neighborhood Watch program in town.
The next Froid Town Council meeting is set for March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
