Yellow Owl Enjoys Football, Track
Senior Profile
Hector Yellow Owl, a senior, likes competing in football and track for the Culbertson Cowboys.
He has played football for four years and was a starter for this past season’s Culbertson squad.
Yellow Owl said a personal highlight for him was when he could do a “pancake” block on somebody to take them to the ground.
Winning games over Poplar and Fairview were also good memories. He says football is his favorite sport.
During track season, he competes in the shot put, discus and javelin. The shot put is his best event and his favorite.
“I hopefully will make it to State this year,” Yellow Owl said. “I’ve been practicing the shot put.”
He has also been involved in the FFA program and enjoyed the agronomy competition.
In the classroom, his favorite class is science. “I like it,” Yellow Owl said. “It’s the easiest class for me.”
Favorite teachers are Janelle Ator and Christina Olson because of the help that they have given him.
He has attended school in Culbertson since transferring from Poplar before the sixth grade.
“It has good teachers and good people in the school,” Yellow Owl said of Culbertson.
After high school, he plans to study business management at either Carroll College or Montana Tech.
