Orozco Family Benefit Planned For Feb. 28 In Froid

A benefit for the family of Roberto Orozco-Ramirez is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Froid Community Center from 4-6 p.m.

A meal will be offered including smoked pulled pork and shredded beef sandwiches, with refreshments and fixings. A silent auction will be held with items and services from more than 40 local businesses and residents. Items and services include a session with April Willis Photography, gravel delivery by the Hilde family and Ten 8, handmade jewelry by Sagebrush Hippie, catering courtesy the Nordlund Family Ranch, fresh baked goods from local vendors and more.

Orozco remains in custody in Great Falls at press time Feb. 17 on a single charge of Illegal Reentry to the U.S.

Government lawyers testified that Orozco represented a flight risk at a Feb. 9 detention hearing in federal court, though they did not give a reason. A date for another detention hearing has yet to be set.

More than 20 Froid residents traveled to the Missouri River Courthouse in Great Falls for the second time in as many weeks to show support for Roberto Orozco-Ramirez and his family at the hearing in U.S. District Court on Monday, Feb. 9.

Froid and Culbertson area residents have been organizing support for family while Orozco is in legal limbo.
