Perkins Keeps Busy In Sports

Culbertson High School senior Leandra Perkins has kept herself busy through sports during her days at the school.
Perkins has participated in volleyball, basketball and track for the Cowgirls. She is also part of the Explore America program.
She started playing volleyball when she was in the sixth grade. She said volleyball is her favorite sport because of her teammates.
Perkins has also enjoyed playing basketball since she began playing in the fourth grade.
“I liked getting to know more people through the sport,” Perkins said of basketball.
During track season, Perkins competes in the shot put and discus. She came close to qualifying for the divisional meet last season.
Her favorite event is the shot put. “It comes more natural,” Perkins explained.
Perkins has attended school in Culbertson since kindergarten. She said “the people” make Culbertson special.
She picks English as her favorite class. “It’s easier for me to understand,” she said. Her favorite teacher is Shelly Panasuk. “She’s good at helping me to understand,” Perkins explained.
After high school, Perkins plans to attend Dickinson State University with the goal of being a child psychologist.
“I like helping the kids,” Perkins said.
