County Moves Up To 44th For Unemployment Rate
After sitting in 48th place in October, Roosevelt County has improved to 44th place in November when the latest information was released last week.
Roosevelt is tied with Lake and Powell counties with an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent.
The two counties in Montana with the lowest unemployment are Carter and Powder River at 2 percent each. Tied for third at 2.2 percent are Richland, Fallon and Treasure counties.
The five counties with the highest unemployment are Madison at 8.2, Lincoln at 6, Granite at 5.8, Sanders at 5.5 and Big Horn at 5.4.
Other eastern Montana counties include Garfield in seventh at 2.4, Custer in ninth at 2.5, Daniels, Sheridan and Valley tied for 17th at 2.9, Dawson in 20th at 3 and Phillips in 33rd at 3.3 percent.
Fort Peck has the second lowest unemployment rate for reservations at 5.6 percent. Flathead is first at 4.7 percent. Fort Belknap is seventh at 13 percent.
In a press release, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Montana’s unemployment rate rose to 3.3 percent in November, continuing the record of over four consecutive years of unemployment at or below 3.4 percent.
Montana’s unemployment rate was 1.3 percent lower than the national unemployment rate, which was 4.6 percent in November.
