Bainville Students Salute Veterans
Bainville schools invited community members for its annual Veterans Day program as students saluted area veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Music director David Wheeler told audience members that he considers the event a celebration.
“It’s to celebrate our men and women who spent months and years to serve,” Wheeler said.
He noted that it’s because of the veterans’ service that Americans enjoy the freedoms that they have today.
“Thank you veterans for your service,” Wheeler said.
Starting the program were kindergarten students leading in the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Student Scarlet Mahoney then delivered a prayer.
Musical numbers included “Liberty Square March,” played by the high school band, “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” sung by the first grade, “This Land is your Land,” performed by the third and fourth grade, “This Flag We Fly,” by the 7-12 grade choir and “Everyday Heroes,” by the second grade, Other selections sung included “God Bless America,” and “God Bless The USA.” The eighthgrade band performed “Freedom Finale.”
Classes reading poems and essays included fifth grade, 11th grade, sixth grade and 12th grade.
Seventh-grade students recognized veterans at the assembly and presented them with gifts.
