The Culbertson Cowboys and Bainville Bulldogs each came away with medals from the Class C state track meet held in Missoula.

Culbertson’s sophomore Brooks Solem placed second in the javelin with a mark of 164-06. Solem cleared 6-2 in the high jump for sixth-place honors.

Plenny Williams, a sophomore, captured third place in the discus with a mark of 142-06.

Gavin Deen, a senior, earned fifth place in the javelin with an effort of 154-06.

Ian Snyder, a junior, ran to a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash at 11.6 seconds and a sixth-place finish in the 200 at 23.24 seconds. Both were personal best times.

The Cowboys suffered with disappointments when seniors Reese Moon and Bridger Salvevold each suffered ihjuries during sprints on Friday.

Bainville’s junior Hailey Berwick finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.84.

Addison Hansen, a junior, earned fifth place in the discus with a mark of 106-05.

The Bulldogs came very close to placing in other events. The 400-meter relay team featuring Casey Myers, Elsie Wilson, Lila Butikofer and Berwick broke their own school record with a time of 52.24 seconds. The team took seventh place.

Wilson took seventh in the 100, 200 and long jump. Miah Pippenger was eighth in the shot put.

In the boys’ division, Kaiden Holmes ran a school record time of 2:01.95 and was eighth in the 800.

Richey/Lambert won the girls’ team championship with 52 points. Granite and Scobey tied for second with 50 points each. Savage was fourth with 40 and Circle took fifth with 37 points. Bainville scored eight points for 18th place.

The top three teams in the boys’ division were Manhattan Christian with 75, Cascade with 57 and Valley Christian with 44. Lustre Christian placed fourth with 38 and Plentywood was fifth with 36 points. Culbertson scored 20 points for 10th place.

Eastern C athletes winning state titles were Lustre’s Johnslee Pierre in the 300-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump, Plentywood’s Henry Kukowski in the 100 and 200, Savage’s Cambry Conradsen in the 100, 200 and 400, Whitewater’s Shelbi LaBrie in the 1600 and 3200, Richey/Lambert’s Jolee Klempel in the 100-meter hurdles, Scobey’s Kaytie Aanstad in the shot put, Whitewater’s Kennedy Simonson in the javelin, Savage’s Mylee Reuter in the pole vault and Richey/Lambert’s Brynne Hill in the triple jump.

Froid/Lake’s Kaj Jensen repeated as the 100-meter dash winner in the unified division. His time was 14.97 seconds.
