Bulldogs Down Culbertson
Bainville’s volleyball team posted a straight set home victory over Culbertson on Thursday, Oct. 3.
The Bulldogs won by a 2514, 25-20, 25-10, final.
The Cowgirls stayed close early in the first set as an ace by Ivy Colvin, a tip by Jazzmin Fugere and a kill by Emma Berwick kept them within striking range at 14-11.
Bainville accounted for nine of the next 10 points with the powerful serving of Hailey Berwick leading the way. Ahead by a 24-14 margin, the Bulldogs ended the set on a kill by Casey Myers.
A kill by Leandra Perkins pulled Culbertson to a 15-15 deadlock in the second set. With the Cowgirls ahead 17-16, the Bulldogs ran off seven straight points on the serving of Wilson and net play of Berwick. Bainville took a 24-18 lead on a kill by Berwick and went on to a 25-20 win.
In the third set, Bainville broke away from an 8-4 game to grab an 18-6 advantage. An ace by Catherine Donaldson and a tip by Perkins closed the margin to 18-9, but two kills by Wilson and two aces by Berwick increased the lead to 23-9.
Bainville scored the final point of the match on a serve by Chandi Johnson.
Wilson finished with 11 kills, four aces and eight digs.
Berwick scored 11 kills, seven aces and 13 digs. Lila Butikofer accounted for 23 assists and seven digs.
