Bainville High School senior Bronc Bilquist told the Community News that he’s planing on heading to Kilgore College, in eastern Texas, a few hours from Dallas. The 19 year old said he plans to pursue a nine month certification program for specialization in corrosion technology. The program will prepare him to carry out corrosion work at the technician level. Bilquist said he will be traveling with pal Reid Anderson, who will also be studying at Kilgore. “I’m really looking forward to tacos,” Bilquist said.

At BHS, Bilquist said his focus wasn’t on sports or a lot of extracurriculars. “I used to golf,” Bilquist said. He said he also participated in BPA, placing at regional competition in device configuration and troubleshooting. He frequently made the BHS honor roll.

“I like kids,” Bilquist said. “I have five nieces.” Family includes mom Colette Orf, originally from Watford City, N.D., father Shawn Bilquist, three older sisters; Jessica, Marlee and Kodi and a grandfather, Warren, in Homestead.

Bilquist said he likes to fish and hunt, mainly whitetail, though he wouldn’t share specifics on fishing hole locations. “I’m not telling,” he said.

Jobs thus far have included fencing and working at the Gold Dust Casino and he said he may try stints as a roustabout or a pumper. Bilquist said apart from saving money, his summer plans are simple. “Really just to have fun,” he said.
