Area Students Win Honors At State FFA Area Students Win Honors At State FFA

Students from Culbertson, Bainville and Froid received honors during the FFA state convention held in Billings last week.

Earning state degrees were Kylie Bergum and Carson Solem of Culbertson, Hallie Iverson and Logan Josephson of Bainville and Kaylee Olson, Jaeleigh Davidson, Cian Logan and Missouri Kalal of Froid. The degree is the highest honor a state association can bestow upon a member.

The Froid floriculture team captured third team at the competition. Students on the team are Addison Elvsaas, Logan, Olson and Davidson.

Olson, a senior, placed ninth overall in floriculture out of 170 contestants.

Culbertson’s farm and agribusiness management team took 27th place. Team members were Henry Colvin, Florian Budureanu, Bridger Salvevold and Mark Kirkaldie.

Another highlight for Culbertson was the agronomy team of Dawson Bergum, Salvevold, Kaden Featherston and Kylie Bergum taking 34th place.

Culbertson teams taking 42nd were the floriculture team of Kylie Bergum, Solem, Featherston and Kirkaldie, and the livestock judging team of Dawson Bergum, Kylie Bergum, Featherston and Angel Burciaga. The mechananics team of Budureanu, Logan Berwick, Burciaga and Ian Snyder placed 56th.

Bainville’s parliamentary procedure team earned eighth place. Students were Tally Berwick, Elsie Wilson, Hallie Iverson, Kendra Romo, Rylan Iverson and Azure Mahoney.

Bainville’s marketing plan team of Tally Berwick, Wilson, Hailey Berwick and Lila Butikofer came away with fifth-place honors.

Hallie Iverson won a proficiency award for sheep. Bainville received bronze honors for star chapter and took third place for Building Our Montana Communities.

The agronomy team of Rowan Wilson, Hallie Iverson, Elsie Wilson and Mahoney took 10th place. The environmental and natural resources team featuring Siena Martinez, Tally Berwick, Rowan Wilson and Kaston Hofer placed 11th.

Placing 24th in the standings were Bainville’s mechanics team of Logan Josephson, Rowan Wilson, Lane Giese and Samuel Butikofer and the ag sales team of Rowan Wilson, Josephson, Giese and Hofer. The vet science team of Tally Berwick, Hailey Berwick, Addison Hansen and Siena Martinez placed 27th.
