Sports has played a big role in the life of Bainville senior Chuck Butikofer.

His extra-curricular success has included being a multi-year starter in both football and basketball as well as a standout on the track team.

Butikofer earned all-conference honors in football for the six-man Bulldogs. He says that’s his favorite sport.

“I guess I like the vibe better than in other sports,” he said.

He said a highlight of his senior football season was defeating Savage in Bainville’s homecoming game.

“We always get blown out by them,” Butikofer said of the satisfying victory.

Butikofer was also an all-conference selection in basketball. One of his favorite memories was when the Bulldogs placed fourth at the Eastern C divisional tournament during his sophomore year.

He said his success in basketball and football comes from determination and hard work. Last track season, Chuck tied with his twin brother, Sam, for fifth place in the high jump at the Class C state track meet by clearing 6-2.

Chuck’s goal this season is to clear 6-4 in order to break the school record of 6-3. He also aims to break Toby Romo’s school javelin record.

In the classroom, Butikofer’s favorite class is sports officiating, which is an on-line class. He plans to become a basketball and football official down the line.

His favorite teacher is Lance Berndt. “He’s just a goofy dude,” Butikofer laughed.

Butikofer has enjoyed attending school in Bainville because of the opportunity of participating in multiple sports.

After high school, he plans to work at a farm or got to a lineman school.
