Froid/Lake’s offensive attack started to roll early in the second half to post a 57-42 home victory over Bainville on Saturday, Feb. 3.

With the Red Hawks ahead by a 29-27 half-time advantage, Landon Kelm fired in consecutive three-pointers to open the third quarter for an eight-point margin. Bainville’s Alex Strickland had a dunk at the 4:36 mark, but a three-point play by Mason Dethman produced a 38-29 lead.

Bainville’s Charles Butikofer connected from three-point range, but the Red Hawks increased the margin to 10 points on drives by Dethman and Nate Stentoft. Two baskets by Sam Butikofer pulled the Bulldogs to 42-36 at the end of the third quarter.

The scoring of C. Butikofer and Strickland kept the Bulldogs only six points behind until Froid/Lake gained breathing room with seven straight points on a threepoint play by Dethman, a 16-footer by Kelm and a hoop by Stentoft for a 53-40 advantage.

Kelm hit another three-pointer in the last minute for the 57-42 final.

Leading Froid/Lake’s attack were Dethman with 23 and Kelm with 19 points. Also scoring were Stentoft with nine and Joseph Robertson with six points.

Bainville’s C. Butikofer finished with 19 points. Also scoring were S. Butikofer with nine, Strickland with eight, Cayden Boyd with four and Reese Harmon with two points.

S. Butikofer fired in a three-pointer to end the first quarter with the Bulldogs down by a 15-14 margin.

Baskets by Boyd and C. Butikofer moved Bainville ahead 23-20 during the second quarter. The Bulldogs stayed in the lead until a three-point play by Dethman put the Red Hawks up 29-27 at the end of the half.
