Beverly Sue Schillinger, 93, died at her home Sept. 12, 2023.
She was born in Baker on August 26, 1930, to Max and Grace FitzSimmons. She graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1948 and attended the Academy of Holy Names in Spokane, Wash., for a short time before returning home to Wolf Point.
She married Leo Schillinger on Oct. 27, 1951, at the Wolf Point Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They had three children, Loren, Dale and Marilyn whom they raised on their farm in Vida.
She worked at the Vida Post Office until she retired in 1990. She was a member of the Vida Homemaking Farmerettes, taught CCD classes at St. Anne's Parish in Vida and helped plan several class reunions.
She and Leo could often be seen attending Mass in Poplar on Saturday nights and then dining at the Poplar Legion Club with family and friends.
After Leo’s death in 2009, she moved into the Sweetwater Retirement Community in Billings to be closer to family. She quickly flourished in her new home and proudly became one of the top Wii bowlers there.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, Eugene and Thomas FitzSimmons; and sister, Betty Probasco.
Survivors include her sister, Grace Ruggles of Billings; sons, Loren of Billings and Dale of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Marilyn Pettit of Sheridan, Wyo.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Sept. 22, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Billings with Father Stephen Zabrocki officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Vida Cemetery at a later date.
