Escarcegas Earn All-American Honors At AAU Junior Olympics

Poplar’s Angelina Escarcega and Navarjo Escarcega each wrestled to All-American status during the AAU Junior Olympic Games held in West Des Moines, Iowa this weekend.

Angelina Escarcega earned Gold All-American status at 105 pounds During team dual action, she posted a perfect 6-0 record. Her results included two pins and four technical falls.

During individual matches on Sunday, July 30, Angelina Escarcega earned the silver medal by taking second place at 100 pounds.

She won three matches on technical falls during the individual matches. She lost to Hayley Petersen of Team Montana from Simms on a pin in the title match.

Navarjo wrestled to Copper All-American recognition at 126 pounds.

During team dual action, he posted a 2-3 record. He won one match on a technical fall and another by an 8-3 decision.

During individual action on Sunday, Navarjo placed second at 126 pounds to capture the silver medal.

Wolf Point’s Jesse Reed earned fifth place at 145 pounds during the individual tournament.
