Poplar Picks Up Points In Baker

By Bill Vander Weele The Poplar Indians scored 38 points in the boys’ standings and six points in the girls’ standings during the Baker Invitational track meet on Saturday, April 9. Sprague To Play Collegiate Baseball

The University of Jamestown, N.D. is excited to announce that Wolf Point High School senior Jack Sprague is joining its baseball program. “I feel he’s a very good kid with the right type of character, the right type of academics and the talent,” Jamestown Coach Tom Hager said. The coach noted that Sprague’s father was a teammate of his when they both were attending Jamestown.

Future Fisheries Improvement Grant Deadline Nears

The deadline for landowners, watershed groups and others to apply for this summer’s Future Fisheries Improvement Program grants is May 15. The goal of the program is to restore rivers, streams and lakes to improve Montana’s wild fish habitat. Entities can receive funding for qualifying projects that benefit Montana’s wild fish. Each project is assessed by an independent review panel

Wolf Point enjoyed a solid track performance at the Baker Invitational on Saturday, April 9. The Wolves tied for seventh in the boys’ standings with 52 points. The top three teams were Glasgow with 181, Sidney with 142 and Scobey with 90 points. Ethan Blount highlighted Wolf Point’s day by finishing first in the 1600 with a time of 4:55.74. The senior placed third in the 800 at 2:13.34.
