Thomas “Tom” George Andring, 77, died Nov. 30, 2021, in Bismarck, N.D.

He was born Sept. 21, 1944, to Bob and Ella Andring of Homestead. He was nine years younger than his brother, Bob. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Medicine Lake where he was involved with basketball, band and FFA. He and his high school sweetheart, Jeri, graduated in 1963. They were married in Spokane, Wash., in November 1968.

He attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman and Kinman College of Business in Spokane. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1968 and served as an air maintenance repairman. He was stationed in Texas, Mississippi, Okinawa and Korea.

After honorable discharge, he moved back to Homestead to take over the Andring family farm in 1975 and raise a family. They had three children, Sam, Jan Marie and Julie.

After retiring the family farm, he went on the road for various construction companies crushing gravel. He spent time in Colorado, Bozeman, South Dakota, California and North Dakota and met wonderful people along the way. He fully retired in 2015.

He was a proud father, never missing a game or track meet and always keeping stats for the girls. He was not a man of many words, but took every chance to tell his grandchildren how proud he was of them. He loved cards, westerns, golf, taking drives to check the fields or scout for hunting, and watching the Honkers and Redhawks. Even after getting a hole in one on the golf course years ago, he figured he'd seen it all when his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, won the Superbowl in 2020.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jeri.

He is survived by his son, Sam Andring; daughters, Jan Marie Stankiewicz and Julie Finn;n eight grandchildren; and brother, Bob Andring.

At his request, no services will be held.
