Bainville played solid volleyball for the first two sets, but Culbertson came away with a 22-25, 29-27, 25-16, 2514, league volleyball victory in Culbertson on Monday, Oct. 18.

After the Cowgirls fell behind by a 9-3 margin in the second set, the serving of net play of Makena Hauge led Culbertson to a 15-10 advantage.

Net plays by Brecklyn Pippenger led the Bulldogs back to 20-17. Bainville tied the score on an ace by Hallie Iverson.

Culbertson regained the lead on a kill by Hauge, but Bainville responded with kills by Kaelyn Romo and Miah Pippenger to move ahead 25-24.

After an ace by Hauge put Culbertson up 26-25, the Bulldogs scored on a tip by M. Pippenger and a kill by B. Pippenger. The Cowgirls then accounted for the final three points including a kill by Destiny Thompson and a serve by Alicyn Ator for a 2927 win.

Ahead 10-9 in the third set, the Cowgirls broke away on kills by Thompson and Morgan Lucas for a 16-9 advantage.

A tip by Kenadee Kempton and an ace by Thompson increased the gap to 21-10.

Kills by B. Pippenger and Kaelyn Romo got Bainville as close as 24-16 before Culbertson ended the set.

The Cowgirls led 15-11 in the fourth set and then gained a 23-12 advantage on kills by Thompson, kills by Hauge and two aces by Perla Burciaga.

After Bainville pulled to 2414, a block by Hauge ended the match.

Hauge finished with 27 kills, six aces, seven blocks and 19 digs. Thompson had 11 kills, two aces, two blocks and 15 digs.

Kempton led Culbertson with 20 assists. Koree Marchwick accounted for 18 assists

and 11 digs.
