Acclaimed Celtic guitarist and storyteller Jerry Barlow is glad that he’s performing face-to-face with audiences again. After a year of dealing with COVID measures, Barlow was sharing this talents throughout Roosevelt County last weekend.

After performing in front of adults and fourth-grade students at the library in Culbertson on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 5, Barlow entertained at the Wolf Point library that night. In addition, he performed at the library in Froid on Sept. 28.

Barlow explains that he entertains at a lot of libraries, schools and art concert performances.

“Every once in a while, I end up on National Public Radio,” he said.

As a touring performer, Barlow travels throughout the Midwest, South and Rocky Mountain regions presenting his program of music, history and humor from the British Isles.

He noted that he has a special love for libraries.

“I feel passionate for libraries,” Barlow said. “They play quite an important part when it comes to literacy and lifelong learning.”

Barlow, who lives in Golden, Colo., said that Roosevelt County was part of a five-week tour for him. He travels to about 18-20 states.

“I play in big cities, but I will take small towns every time,” Barlow said. “It’s a lot more personable.”
