Duane Morris Rabbe Sr., 81, of Bainville, formerly of Williston, N.D., died Sunday evening, Sept. 26, 2021, at the Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.

He was born Dec. 28, 1939, to Joel and Valborg Rabbe of Williston, N.D. He was educated in the Williston area, graduating from Williston High School in 1958. Just one short month after graduation, he enlisted into the Navy, where he spent the next four years traveling between Haiti, France, and Lebanon on the USS Gainard DD706. Him and his brother Gary were pen pals during this time.

On Sept, 20, 1967, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sarah Granbois, and together had two children: Linda Enget (Sister) and Duane Rabbe Jr. (Jr.). He was a great father and provider for his wife and children.

His employment over the years included Boeing, Westland, Flying J and Kensington, from which he retired. Some of his hobbies included collecting “junk” for his flea markets, metal detecting, working on vehicles and spending time with his friends and family every chance he got.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah; daughter, Linda Enget of Bainville; son, Duane Rabbe Jr., of Bainville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty of Plentywood, Judy of Bremerton, Wash., Duane of Spanish Fork, Utah, JoAnn of Williston, N.D., Darlene of Williston, N.D., Gary of Fargo, N.D., and Diana of Williston, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Harriett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston with Rev. Jon Wellumson officiating. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Williston.
