Froid Council Meets, Elections Pending

The Froid Town Council held it’s regular meeting Monday, June 14. Mayor Sheri Crain was absent.

Council member Gale Stangelund called the meting to order at 6:30 p.m. Visitors were acknowledged by the council. Clerk LeAnn Krumwiede Johnson read the minutes from the April meeting and the council approved them.

The public works director was absent but reported that mowing is now underway at town properties.

Delinquent accounts and claims were reviewed and approved.

The town has applied for monies from the American Rescue Plan Act. Johnson told the Community News that the funds should be approximately $49,000. Discussions on the subject have included spending much of the funding on storm drain issues. No motions were made to settle dispensation of the funds.

The filing period for council elections is closing June 21. A mail ballot election is scheduled for November. Open positions include mayor (four year term) and two council positions with four year terms. All newly elected officials will take office in January.
