Trial Scheduled For Underdahl

A trial date was scheduled for Kai Irwin Leigh Underdahl during a hearing in district court on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Underdahl is facing three counts of assault with a weapon and two charges of criminal endangerment. District Court Judge David Cybulski scheduled the trial for April 15.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Roosevelt County Attorney Frank Piocos and defense attorney Terrence Toavs each seemed confident that an agreement will be reached between the two parties and that a trial won’t be needed.

The charges pertain to an alleged incident involving Underdahl chasing another vehicle and shooting gunshots on Highway 2 west of Culbertson on Oct. 4.

The counts for assault with a weapon each carry a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of $50,000. The counts for criminal endangerment carry a maximum sentence of 10 years and a fine of $50,000.
