Miller Takes First At State Speech And Drama Meet


Three Culbertson High School speech and drama competitors traveled to Huntley Project to compete in the state tournament on Jan. 28-29.
Culbertson High School speech and drama coach Jeri Gustafson said competition was tense leading up to the awards ceremony.
“All three of our competitors made the cut to semi-finals and the finals round of competition,” said Gustafson. “When the day ended, the team could proudly boast having a state champion competitor.”
Bringing home the gold, Zach Miller took first place in memorized public address.
Trevor Green placed fourth in informative and Eric Chilson took eighth place in informative.
As a team, the boys placed fourth following a tie in the class C speech sweepstakes, losing out on third place to Plentywood.
“The ongoing support from our community, school staff, longtime friends and former competitors throughout the U.S. always leaves me in awe, said Gustafson. “Now, to start planning for the 2022-2023 season.”
