Spartans Win Match At Nashua
Scobey’s volleyball team cruised to a straight set conference victory in Nashua on Thursday, Sept. 24. The visiting Spartans won by a 25-2, 25-8, 25-15, final.
Scobey gained a quick 5-0 lead in the first set on kills by Halle Cromwell, an ace by Chloe Handran and a kill by Emery Rouse. Three straight aces by Handran increased the gap to 9-0. Another ace by the junior put the margin at 12-0.
After Nashua scored a point, the Spartans struck back with three points on the serving and a spike by Ainsley Berryhill.
Rouse accounted for a pair of kills to increase the margin to 20-2. The serving by Cromwell down the stretch led the way to a 25-2 win.
The Spartans earned an 8-2 lead in the second set on the serving of Handran and net play of Rouse. Two aces by Chloe Johnson put the score at 12-4.
Ahead by a 16-5 margin, Scobey tallied three straight points on two kills by Handran and an ace by Rouse. A pair of aces by Nikki Rush gave the Spartans a 22-7 advantage. The set ended on an ace by Ava Stentoft.
The Porcupines played well early in the third set and trailed by only a 7-4 margin.
With Scobey ahead by an 18-10 score, Scobey moved out to a 22-12 lead on kills by Rouse and an ace by Berryhill. Ahead by a 23-14 margin, the Spartans were able to end the match on kills by Handran and Berryhill.
Scobey opened the week with a non-conference victory in Plentywood on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Spartans downed Plentywood by a 25-20, 2125, 25-22, 25-13, final.
