Bulldogs Fall Short Against Savage
The Bainville Lady Bulldogs filled the court with energy and determination Friday night, Sept. 11, as they battled the Savage Warriors through three competitive sets.
Savage earned the 3-0 victory, but the final result did not tell the full story of Bainville’s eort. The Lady Bulldogs stayed within striking distance throughout the match, falling 25-20, 25-19 and 26-24.
The cheering section came alive as fans chanted in support of their classmates, adding to the excitement each time Bainville delivered a strong serve, chased down a di ult ball or won a hardfought point. Sophie Portra helped keep the Lady Bulldogs’ offense moving, setting up her teammates and finishing the match with 22 assists. Her steady passing gave Bainville opportunities to attack and kept the team organized during long rallies.
Annalyce Sorenson made the most of those opportunities at the net. She recorded 10 kills without an error, providing the Lady Bulldogs with a dependable oensive presence against the Warriors’ defense. Casey Myers delivered an all-around performance for Bainville. She applied pressure from the service line with four aces, protected the back row with 17 digs and stood strong at the net with four blocks. Her work on both oense and defense helped the Lady Bulldogs remain competitive in each set.
Bainville’s teamwork and communication were especially evident during the third set. After dropping the first two, the Lady Bulldogs continued fighting and pushed Savage beyond the usual 25-point finish. With the score tight late in the set, both teams battled for control before the Warriors edged Bainville 26-24 to close the match.
Although Savage took the victory, the Lady Bulldogs showed their resilience from the opening serve to the final point.
The loss came a night after the Bulldogs accounted for a dramatic five-set victory over Plentywood. The Bulldogs fell behind two sets to zero in the non-conference match.
