FEMA Staff Available In Wolf Point
Federal disaster assistance is now available through FEMA to enrolled members of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes who had damage to a home, trailer or other personal property caused by the severe winter storm and straight-line winds on Dec. 17-18, 2025.
A Fort Peck/FEMA Assistance Center staffed by FEMA specialists will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through July 28 at the Wolf Point Community Center, 515 Sixth Ave. S. in Wolf Point. The center will be closed July 3.
Enrolled tribal members, including homeowners and renters, with uninsured damage to their home or trailer, unmet disaster-related emergency needs or property loss from the December storm may qualify for assistance including grants to help pay for temporary housing and essential home repairs as well as other disaster-related needs, such as replacement of damaged essential personal property and expenses, such as for transportation, moving and storage.
Recovery specialists from FEMA will be available to help people complete the application for disaster assistance and get information on additional resources including low-interest disaster loans. The type of assistance individuals may be eligible for is based on the damage and individual circumstances.
Applications to FEMA can also be started by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov or downloading the FEMA mobile app. For information, call 406-200-7903 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MST. You do not need insurance to apply, but enrolled tribal members who have homeowners, renters or flood insurance should file an insurance claim before applying for FEMA assistance.
If a policy does not cover all disaster expenses, tribal members may be eligible for federal assistance which is usually a grant that does not have to be repaid.
Only one FEMA application per household is needed and the following information will be requested:
• A tribal ID or Certification of Indian Blood certificate.
• Contact information including an email address.
• Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying, if different.
• Your Social Security number.
• A general list of your damage and losses.
• Banking information if you choose direct deposit for your assistance.
• If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name.
Specialists on FEMA’s assistance line or at the assistance center can answer questions about your application.
Specialists at the assistance center can also scan or copy information or documents needed for your application. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration are also available at the Assistance Center to provide program information and explain how to apply for SBA’s low-interest disaster loans.
These loans are offered to all homeowners and renters, business owners and private nonprofits within the Fort Peck Reservation affected by the Dec. 17-18 disaster to help cover uninsured and underinsured property losses.
If you are in Daniels, McCone, Richland, Roosevelt, Sheridan and Valley counties and you suffered economic impacts due to the disaster, you may be eligible for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans.
