Badlands Pushes Through Stormy Weather
The 2026 Badlands Celebration in Brockton was well attended this weekend, despite stormy conditions that forced the cancellation of Saturday evening’s planned festivities. Sunday’s amended schedule started up around 11:30 a.m. and event organizers kept things moving right on into early evening.
This year’s royalty included Head Man Terrence Messerly Sr., Head Woman Jasalyn Lambert, Senior Princess Haeli Clark, Senior Princess Attendant Brynlee Nygard, Junior Princess D’lanie Spotted Bird, Junior Princess Attendant Yozora Spotted Bird, Junior Princess Second Attendant Alchemery Red Boy, Mini Princess Oaklynn Atkinson and Traveling Princess Kenzley Moran Clark.
Flag bearer for the celebration was Medicine Bear Lone Warrior. Drum keeper was Colton Roberts. Treasurer was Wyatt Spotted Bird and Yolanda Parshall was secretary. Arena director was Raymond Olsen and the host drum was the Badlands Singers.
The next celebration set for the Fort Peck Indian Reservation is the Wadopana pow-wow in Wolf Point Aug. 7-9.
