Wolf Point Drops Game To Harlem
Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball team stayed close early, but the Wolves lost to an explosive Harlem team, 70-52, on Saturday, Feb. 7.
A three-pointer by Sean Hamilton and an inside hoop by Cole Holen put the Wolves into a 5-5 deadlock against Harlem, which entered the game with a 12-2 record.
Two baskets by Richard Campbell, including one off a nice pass from Hamilton, kept Wolf Point close at 11-9.
The Wildcats, however, then broke away with eight straight points including six by Cody McCabe for a 19-9 advantage.
After Zandon Calder scored off a rebound for the Wolves, McCabe fired in a three-pointer and Xavier Young scored at the buzzer for a 24-11 margin to end the first quarter.
Calder scored off an assist from Jett Azure to open the second period, but Harlem ran off the next eight points.
A three-point play by McCabe put the Wildcats ahead 41-17 late in the half. The Wolves tallied the last five points of the half on two free throws by Hamilton and a three-pointer by Kayden Charette.
A three-pointer by Hamilton was a highlight for the Wolves during the third quarter, but a 6-0 streak put the Wildcats up 53-30. Harlem led 58-38 at the end of the third quarter.
Wolf Point’s top scorers in the game were Calder with 18, Campbell with 11 and Hamilton with 10.
Also scoring were Charette with seven, Holen with four and Azure with two.
Leading Harlem were Mc-Cabe with 29 and Lathan Black Wolf with 17 points.
The Wolves will end their regular season by traveling to Plentywood on Friday, Feb. 13, and hosting Malta on Saturday, Feb. 14. The district tournament starts Feb. 25 in Malta.
