The LGS Lego teams,accompanied by their teacher, Leigi Early, went to Billings to compete against other teams and schools. Lions A (Bryanna Allen and Christian Nell) team finished fourth in the robot Games with a score of 105. Lions 1 team (Sophia Mullet, Josua Matthyser, Ian Unrau and Harmonee Utchmann) placed second in the innovation category but 16th in the robot games. Neither team qualified for state competitions, but they had fun and did a great job, even without a coding coach for the robot games. Christian Nell even helped a struggling team, which is what LEGO League is all about. The teams were to develop a technology that could help archaeologists.

The Lustre Grade School Christmas Concert, Tuesday Jan 28, was presented in two parts in a gym filled with parents and grandparents. Part 1 was titled Tribute to Sarel: Continue to Fight and began with grades third-fourth singing Fight Song by Rachel Platten, which talks of having inner strength. The kindergarten- second graders joined

them for You Say I Am Loved by Lauren Diegle and A Million Dreams by Pasek and Justin Paul.

The seventh-eighth grade choir sang Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey and This is Me, both arranged by their director, Jerson Ayuno, better known as Mr. Jay. Following a message from Sarel’s family, the Lustre Christian High School joined the program to sing In Jesus’ Name by Katy Nichole which was a reverent prayer.

The second part picked up the program theme of “Choose Joy” and was titled “Christmas Joy Lives On.” Abe Unrau, in grade 2 played Joy to the World by Handel, on the xylophone. It was flawless. The kindergarten- second grade joined him to play their flute recorders in an arrangement of Jingle Bells.

The third-fourth graders played Jingle Bells with their chimes, followed by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The third-fourth graders sang Feliz Navidad arranged by Mr. Jay, each playing a ukulele, with one person on the auto- harp. The fifth and sixth grade band played Silent Night and Ode to Joy followed by Angels We Have Heard on High and Go Tell it on the Mountain arranged by their director. The seventh and eighth grade choir sang O Holy Night and

Joy to the World in four-part harmony.

The seventh-eighth grade band finished the program with All I Want for Christmas is You and two pieces arranged by Schmitt and Hall:

Hark, The Herald Angels Sing and Adeste Fideles.

The grades kindergarten- fourth grade were all in Christmas pajamas. The fifth-eighth graders were in formal black and white attire. Principal Jeanne Matthyser closed the program thanking folks for coming and said, “Even after delays, joy still finds us through the music, generosity and courage. It is because music heals, and hope lives on.”
