Cowgirls Earn Victory Over Plevna Team, 39-19

The Culbertson girls’ basketball team put together a solid defensive effort and downed Plevna, 39-19, during action in Lambert on Saturday, Dec. 20.

The Cowgirls got off to a 20-7 advantage during the first half. Leading the way were Emma Berwick and Ivy Colvin with six points each in the half.

Culbertson then gained additional control with the first seven points of the third quarter on three free throws by Colvin, a basket off a rebound by Payton Labatte and an inside shot by Berwick.

A 16-footer by Stella Fox along with a steal and drive by Anna Steppler increased the gap to 31-7.

The Cowgirls held a 31-12 advantage at the end of three quarters of play.

Culbertson tallied eight points in the fourth period for the 39-19 final.

Top scorers for the Cowgirls were Colvin with 11 and Berwick with 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Steppler with four, Ally Simonsen with four, Charity Wilbanks with four, Ayden Ator with two, Fox with two and Labatte with two.

The Cowgirls will travel to Savage on Friday, Dec. 19, and host Richey/Lambert on Saturday, Dec. 20.
