Lustre Girls Beat JV Squad


Lustre Christian’s volleyball team defeated Wolf Point’s JVs during action in Wolf Point on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Lustre won by a final margin of 26-24, 25-12, 25-10.
The strong net play of 5-11 freshman Aleah Fast and an ace by Samantha Neufeld led the Lions to a 15-8 advantage in the first set.
Serves by McKenzie Rodenberg pulled the Wolves to 16-13, but Lustre increased the gap to 21-13 on the strong serving of A. Fast. A pair of kills by Hannah Brown put the score at 24-13.
Wolf Point then battled back on the hard serves of Cali Gorder The Wolves accounted for 11 straight points including three aces by Gorder for a 24-24 deadlock.
The Lions tallied the final two points including the set winner on an ace by Sidney Klatt.
Lustre held only a 7-6 lead in the second set until breaking away with 11 straight points. Highlights included kills by Klatt, Lauryn Holzrichter and Brown.
A block and tip by Rodenberg got the Wolves as close as 23-11 before the Lions scored the last two points including one on a spike by A. Fast.
After aces by Brown and a kill by A. Fast led Lustre to a quick 5-0 lead in the third set, three kills by A. Fast put the margin at 11-3.
A tip and serve by Sophia Ricker closed the gap to 13-9, but Lustre responded with kills by Holly Hilkemann. The strong serving, including three aces, by Natalie Fast down the stretch produced the 25-10 final.
