Culbertson High School senior Catherine Donaldson’s involvement at the school includes volleyball, FFA and cheer.

Her competitions in FFA include veterinary science and sales. She started participating in veterinary science as a junior.

“It gives me an idea if I want to become a veterinarian,” Donaldson explained.

She has played volleyball for the Cowgirls for four years of high school and one in junior high. This season, she has emerged as a starter at middle blocker.

“It’s going pretty well,” she said of the season.

Donaldson credits her improvement to practicing, attending open gyms and playing in the city league in Williston, N.D.

Her goal for the season is for the Cowgirls to advance through the district tournament and play at the divisional tourney.

She has been a member of Culbertson’s cheer team for the last four years. She says she likes to get the crowd fired up at basketball games.

One of her highlights about cheer is when the squad performs a dance routine at the district basketball tournament. She said they usually receive a lot of compliments after the performance.

Her favorite class is government with teacher Dave Solem. “He makes it so his class isn’t boring,” she explained.

Donaldson’s favorite teacher is Elizabeth Standley. “She’s funny and relates to kids,” Donaldson said.

Hobbies include riding horses and spending time with family members. She recently earned first place in keyhole at the Go-getters competition in Wolf Point.

She is currently unsure of which college to attend and her future career.

Donaldson has lived in Culbertson for five years since moving from Belgrade. “I like the people and small town,” she said of Culbertson.
