Several Appear In District Court

Jeremy Lee Boysun was sentenced in district court in front of Judge Benjamin Fosland on Tuesday, July 29.

Boysun changed his plea to guilty on June 11 for the charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs. At the time, a pre-sentencing investigation was ordered.

Based on a joint plea agreement, Boysun received a deferred imposition of sentence of four years. He was fined $1,000. He also must serve eight days in county jail during the next month.

Fosland noted that Boysun seems to have a good support system and that this was his first serious crime. “This gives you the best opportunity for rehabilitation,” the judge said.

Jamie Rose Hoyt of Williston, N.D., made not guilty pleas to the charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, meth and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

An omnibus hearing for Hoyt was scheduled for Sept. 10. Fosland granted the request to reduce Hoyt’s bond from $25,000 to $5,000. She was ordered to sign a waiver of extradition before being released.

Gy Salvevold of Culbertson admitted to violating the terms of his parole when he missed an appointment with his dependency counselor.

Through a joint agreement, Salvevold’s six-year deferred sentence was reimposed. He was given credit for five days served. He will switch dependency counselors.

A status hearing was conducted by Esequiel Erick Robles. He is facing the charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. The next hearing was set for Sept. 17. A two-day trial is scheduled for Nov. 13-14.

Defense attorney Shannon Sweeney requested that Robles be released on his own recognizance. She said they have been in contact with a high intensity in-patient treatment facility in North Dakota.

Fosland ruled that Robles’ previous bond still covers his current imprisonment. Robles must attend a high intensity in-patient treatment center and sign a waiver of extradition before being released.
