The powwow presented by the Wolf Point Community Organization was a hit during Stampede weekend.

“We were very happy of how it went,” organizer Wayne TwoBulls said.

The community feed, featuring a chicken dinner, attracted about 300 individuals on Thursday, July 10.

Financial prizes were given for men’s all categories, women’s all categories, teen boys’ all categories, teen girls’ all categories, junior boys’ all categories and junior girls’ all categories.

“We had some very good dancers for men and women,” TwoBulls said. “The teens were good too.”

Along with the Fort Peck Tribes’ donation to all powwows, another financial source was a fundraiser drawing for a buffalo.

TwoBulls said WPCO organizers will discuss extending the powwow to three days for next year’s celebration.

Dance winners included the following: Junior girls: 1. Naddyn Spotted-Wolf, 2. Brooklyn Bushman, 3. Naylah LaRoche, 4. Mariah Carpenter.

Junior boys: 1. Quade Boyd, 2. Kellsyn Chase, 3. Brayan Boyd, 4. Travis Bets His Medicine.

Teen girls: 1. Jocilyn Gray, 2. Shoshanna SunRhodes, 3. Renee Smith.

Teen boys: Donald Iceman, 2. Jayden Eder, 3. Anthony Mazawasicuna, 4. Rooster Iceman.

Adult women: 1. Shanna Robertson, 2. Chelysa Owens-Cyr, 3. Jourdan Hoops-Lovan, 4. Luanne Kicking Women.

Adult men: 1. Lance Chase, 2. Alden Spotted Elk, 3. Gage Ackerman, 4. Ronald Fast Horse.
