High School Rodeo Hall Of Fame Site Selected
The Montana High School Rodeo Association and the Western Legacy Center have announced an agreement to locate a Montana High School Rodeo Hall of Fame at the Western Legacy Center in Whitehall.
The project is in the early design phase at this time. There are no other High School Rodeo Hall of Fames in the country, so this will be a first.
Some information about High School Rodeo in Montana will start to be posted at the Legacy Center soon.
The Montana High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) is one of the 41 states, five Canadian provinces, Australia, and Mexico that make up the National High School Rodeo Association. The MHSRA is dedicated to promote rodeo to high school and junior high school students across Montana.
Denver Gilbert, president of the Montana High School Rodeo Association, said, “This is a perfect place to put some of our outstanding members on full display to the rest of the world.”
The Western Legacy Center in Whitehall was established in 2022 as a museum, promoting the history of the west, primarily Montana. Displays currently include rodeo, ranching, railroads, Lewis and Clark, wildlife, mining and art.
The museum is financed by sponsorships, donations, and a Montana made trading post.
The trading post currently has 147 Montana vendors selling unique products that help many families make ends meet.
The WLC also put on numerous events for the public each month. Some of the events include artist’s showings, author gatherings, a Cowboy Potluck the last Saturday of each month, and other special events, including the Lost Hawk Rendezvous Aug. 14-18.
The Western Legacy Center director Tom Harrington, said, “Putting this great project together will certainly make the Western Legacy Center a destination for folks from all across Montana.”
