Brown Makes Not Guilty Plea To Drug Charge
James Taylor Brown of Wolf Point had his arraignment hearing conducted in district court on Wednesday, May 21.
He is facing the federal charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs. He is accused of being in possession of meth on April 19.
If convicted of the charge, Brown faces maximum penalties of five years in jail, a $5,000 fine or both.
Brown made a plea of not guilty to the charge at the hearing. An omnibus hearing was scheduled for June 24.
His attorney, Sally Kay Hickok, asked District Judge Benjamin Fosland for a reduction of the $12,000 bond for Brown.
County attorney Thomas Bleicher said he doesn’t oppose a reduction of bond, as low as $1,000, as long as Brown has UA testing done three times a week.
Fosland ruled to reduce the bond to $1,000 with the requirement of having the testing done.
Brown has a $5,000 bond regarding a pending bond revocation charge.
