Chamber Receives Grant For Reimagining Project
The future of Wolf Point is looking more and more beautiful.
Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture’s executive director Jayden Diener is excited to announce grant funds of $1,7500 from the Montana Community Foundation. The grant is to support beautification ideas that came from the Reimagining Rural series held earlier this year.
Diener said a portion of the funds will aim to help the Nellie’s Park project spearheaded by city council member Dean Mahlum.
Other funds will support the Music and Movie in the Park idea and a future Take Action Tuesday project.
Diener encourages anyone with a Take Action Tuesday suggestion to text her at 406-366-4460 or email her at wolfpointchamber@gmail. com.
She is also pleased that area businesses and individuals have been improving their locations. She is planning to start putting door hangers out to tell these people that the work they do is being noticed. She also mentioned the outside of the Amtrak station is even being improved.
Goals of the Reimagining Rural program include Inspire rural people to reimagine their community; Embrace different perspectives, individuals and ideas; Connect through shared hopes, dreams and experiences; and Create positive change, your community is worth it.
During the meetings, information included that MSU Extension officials have found that the most done in small towns happen when volunteers work together.
Officials said five areas to restore pride include: * Identity. Celebrate local history, tradition.
* Improve standards. When we ask more of people, they tend to raise to the occasion.
* Take ownership. Individuals should feel the need to take care of space.
* Communityness. Community only exists when we are together.
* Appearances. The way things appear forms our opinion of them.
