Bulldogs Place At Watford City Track Meet
Bainville’s track athletes came away with strong showing at the early-bird meet held in Watford City, N.D., on Tuesday, April 14.
Bainville’s girls earned ninth in the team standings with 59 points. The Bulldogs placed 12th in the boys’ standings with 19 points.
Hailey Berwick finished first in two sprints at the meet. The senior’s times were 26.96 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 1:01.01 in the 400-meter dash. She placed second in the 100 at 13.12 seconds.
Addison Hansen earned second in the discus at 1021 and fifth in the shot put at 33-9.
Lila Butikofer placed third in the discus with a mark of 99-2.
In the javelin, Berwick placed third at 101-9 and Hannah Tholborn earned sixth at 79-1. Butikofer was seventh at 78-4.
In the boys’ division, Kaiden Holmes ran the 400 in 52.16 to pre-qualify for the state meet. He placed second in the event.
Holmes took second in the 800 with a time of 2:06.31.
The 400-meter relay team of Austin Eveland, Holmes, Parker Berwick and Rowan Wilson broke the school record with a time of 47.25 seconds. The old record was 47.92 seconds by Carson Ullmer, Cameron Downs, Jesse Strickland and AJ Ullmer in 2019.
Wilson finished sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:12.41.
At the JV level, Parker Berwick captured first place in the shot put at 36-4 and first place in the discus with a best of 107-7.
Other JV boys placing included Bridger Chandler in second for the 1600 and fourth for the 800, Logan Telck in fourth for the 3200 and Ryan Tholborn in eighth for the javelin and long jump.
JV girls placing were Reese Smith in sixth for the shot put, fourth for the discus and seventh for the javelin. Isabelle Anderson was eighth in the javelin.
