Indians Beat Plentywood In Conference Match For Homecoming


Poplar emerged with a straight set victory over conference foe Plentywood on Thursday, Oct. 9.
The Indians scored a 25-14, 26-24, 25-19 win to celebrate homecoming.
Behind by a 10-9 margin in the first set, the Indians earned a 14-10 lead on a kill by Braelyn Nordwick, a kill by Carsyn Fourbear and an ace by Frankie Gourneau. A tip by Fourbear and another ace by Gourneau put the margin at 16-10.
A pair of aces by Nordwick increased the gap to 20-12. The Indians increased their lead to 24-13 on two powerful kills by Lilliana O’Neal en route to the victory.
In the second set, the Indians were able grab a 16-14 advantage on two net winners by Nordwick and a pair of aces by Fourbear.
The scores remained close down the stretch as a kill by Nordwick put the score at 23-22 and a spike by Sophia Crawford was good for a 2423 lead.
With the game deadlocked at 24-24, the Indians accounted for the last two points including a kill by Crawford.
Down by an 18-16 margin in the third set, the Indians ran off three straight points on a kill by Nordwick and two aces by Gourneau.
After Plentywood cut the gap to 20-19, Poplar earned the last five points including two kills by Nordwick and two aces by Fourbear.
