Last year’s amounts spent were reviewed. The funds included $2,265 at Southside, $2,055 at Northside, $1,305 at Wolf Point Junior High School, $2,490 at Wolf Point High School, $2,000 for meetings, $2,000 for family events, $15,000 for graduate incentives, $2,000 for caps and gowns, $15,000 for elective class costs, $4,800 for activity cards and $1,032.91 for the general fund. A total of $49,947.91 was spent.
The committee carried over $26,761.52 from last year’s budget to this year. The group is projected to receive $28,000 in federal funds for this school year. Changes to the budget approved by the committee included $1,665 less for Southside and $1,905 more for the junior high school because there is now one less grade at Southside and sixth grade holds classes at the junior high school. Other changes were $3,000 more for family events, $1,000 less for meetings, $2,000 more for elective class fees and $6,000 more for activity cards for 6-12 grade students.
JOM funds can be used to establish, carry out programs or expand programs in existence before the contract period that provide: Remedial instruction, career, academic and college-readiness counseling and cultural programs; selected courses related to the academic and professional disciplines; or important needs such as school supplies and items that enable recipients to participate in curricular and extra-curricular programs. The funds can also be used to purchase equipment to facilitate training for professional trade skills and intensified college preparation programs.
