Nortana Hosts 4-H Clinic In Culbertson
Nortana hosted a 4-H clinic at its location in Culbertson on Saturday, April 15, to discuss feeding strategies, show ring ethics, training their animals and much more.
More than 28 students and 14 leaders representing over six counties participated. The youth attended the sessions which were broken into species of beef, horse, swine, sheep and goats.
Kade Hummel, the regional representative for Linder show feeds, started with swine and discussed starting out training them to get used to the 4-H owner. He also talked about the show ring situations and how we learn to handle every situation in stride.
Rachael Oliver discussed the nutrition aspects of feeding sheep and goats and their unique needs.
From CHS nutrition, Heather Dykins gave an overview of beef nutritional and digestive needs, and Crystal White also from CHS Nutrition, discussed horses. There was a meal provided by Nortana, as well as door prizes for questions answered MSU Extension provided feed buckets and scoops for each participant. Local producers brought in their animals for the speakers to demonstrate and what they learned and work on improving their showmanship.
