Bulldogs Beat Trenton In Opener
Bainville got its football season off to a strong start with a 33-18 home victory over Trenton, N.D., on Saturday, Aug. 27.
After Trenton gained a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter on a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Sam Butikofer. Alex Strickland kicked the conversion for an 8-6 lead.
Trenton then scored on a four-yard run by Colton Adams, but Bainville responded with a 49-yard pass play from Cayden Boyd to Charles Butikofer for a 14-12 half-time advantage.
The Bulldogs increased their lead to 20-12 when S. Butikofer scored on an eightyard run in the third quarter.
A 20-yard return of a fumble by C. Butikofer for a touchdown came early in the fourth quarter. Strickland passed to Logan Josephson for the conversion to put the Bulldogs up 27-12.
Boyd accounted for Bainvilleās final touchdown on a four-yard run.
A 60-yard dash by Korey Kendall pulled Trenton to 33-18.
The Bulldogs will head to Chester/Joplin/Inverness on Saturday, Sept. 3.
