Lustre Christian Features New Principal, Guidance Counselor

Lustre Christian has two experienced educators leading at the school this fall. Ric Cattell is the school’s new principal while his wife, Deborah, is serving as a guidance counselor.

Prior to coming to eastern Montana, the Cattells served at Ras Al Khaimorh, United Arab Emirates, for three years and in China for two years. Before that, they worked in Painesville, Ohio.

“We’ve been around,” Ric laughed.

What interested him about Lustre Christian is that the school is an international Christian school.

“We really like that environment,” Ric said. “We’ve been in public schools, but we really like the environment in a Christian school. It really speaks to our personal values.”

Ric says he has really been impressed with Lustre’s students. “I love them,” he said.

They are also impressed with Eastern Montana’s landscape.

“Our first night here, we got to go outside and watch the comets. I really understood what they mean by Big Sky Country,” Ric said.

Deborah joked, “Instead of seeing camels on the road, we see cows and deer.”

They are thankful for the support from the community.

“The outstanding kindness of the community isn’t anything we’ve experienced in a long time,” Deborah said. “They really supported us and made sure everything went well.”

Their hobbies include reading and fishing.

“It doesn’t look like it, but I like to work out,” Ric laughed.
