The Wolves came through when the pressure was on to down Malta, 25-12, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12, in conference volleyball action at home on Saturday, Oct. 17.

After a kill by Kayden Sibley put Wolf Point up 11-7 in the deciding set, Malta battled back to create an 11-11 deadlock.

Wolf Point tallied the next two points including one on an ace by Sierra Hamilton.

After a kill by Kaylee Bishop pulled Malta to 13-12, the Wolves struck for the last two points including a tip by Jewel Olson for the 15-12 final.

The Wolves opened the match with an impressive first set of action. The net play of Sarah Williamson and Olson along with the serving of Katelyn MacDonald led the way to an 8-3 advantage.

The serving of Gracie Ferdina helped Wolf Point increase the margin to 17-7.

Aces by Olson increased the margin to 22-11 en route to the 25-12 win.

Trailing in the second set, the Wolves fought back on a kill by Sierra Hamilton, two aces by Demi Kegley and a kill by Williamson to cut the gap to 23-22.

The M-Ettes scored the final two points for a 25-22 victory.

In the third set, Wolf Point moved ahead 18-17 on kills by Olson and Mikaya Smoker- Dewitt. A block by Hamilton increased the margin to 23-17.

Ahead 23-19, the Wolves accounted for their last two points of the set on a block by Hamilton and a kill by Williamson.

The M-Ettes gained a 23-15 advantage in the fourth set and won by a 25-20 margin.

In Saturday’s second match of a double-header, Malta earned an 18-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-22, victory.

Malta ran off six straight points in the fourth set to take a 21-17 advantage. A kill by Hamilton helped the Wolves battle back to 22-20.

A kill by MacDonald pulled the Wolves to 23-22, but Malta scored the final two points.

Wolf Point lost by a 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 30-32, 8-15, final in Baker on Friday, Oct. 16.

Wolf Point coach Kim Hanks said the Wolves played very well in Baker and had their chances to win the non-conference match.

The Wolves lost at Glasgow, 19-25, 24-26, 5-25, on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
