Hopa Mountain Donates To Culbertson Food Bank

The newly active County Cupboard food bank in Culbertson received a $2,500 donation from Bozeman-based nonprofit Hopa Mountain last week. With it, they were able to purchase 650 pounds of ground beef for area residents on May 2.
Neil and Audrey Stromberg picked up the beef in Wolf Point and delivered it.
Culbertson Jobs for Montana Graduates students answered a call for assistance and showed up to help unload the beef and other groceries. “Every single young man calledshowed up,” said Mary Machart. “These guys are amazing and always willing to lend a hand (even when they aren’t ‘students’ anymore).”
According to their website, Hopa Mountain invests in rural and tribal citizen leaders who are improving education, ecological health and economic development. The board of the County Cupboard is made up of Rick Knick, Laura Christoffersen, Genny Nordmeyer, Travis Featherston, Dixie Berwick and Ashlee Anderson. The group’s first grocery distribution was April 28.
At press time, a second date was set for May 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the county complex.
Anderson told the Community News that distribution days are on a flexible schedule.
“We are doing it today [Tuesday],” said Anderson. “It’s a week to week kind of thing depending on the groceries we can get.”
