Gayle Johnson, age 91, of Wolf Point, Mont., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024. Gayle was born on July 3, 1933, to Guy and Ida Lindberg in Arnegard, N.D., where she spent her early childhood. The family moved to Glasgow where she finished her schooling. She traveled to Moorhead, Minn., to attend Concordia College and earned an associate degree. After returning to Montana, she met a handsome young man named Floyd C. Johnson. Gayle and Floyd were married July 19, 1958, in Glasgow. They moved to the airport addition in Wolf Point, then had kids and Floyd worked on the family farm south of the Missouri River. Gayle raised her two young children (Celia and Larry), while working as the secretary at Frontier School. After the tragic loss of her two children, she was blessed with son Kendall almost three years to the day later. During this time, she concentrated on her business as a Shaklee product distributor. Gayle was seen on a number of occasions flagging for Floyd as he performed aerial spraying. She also returned to work at Lorene’s for a while. She enjoyed attending church, being involved with Bible study and singing in the choir. She took pride in being selected the Queen of Montana Flying Farmers. She loved attending social events — including the coffee club! Gayle found a passion in hand-making cards for people and giving them out on special occasions. Mom and Dad took many trips together from Canada to Mexico, Hawaii to Alaska and across the USA. Together with her beloved husband Floyd, they spent 66½ wonderful years together in the Wolf Point area. She will be missed by her husband, Floyd; son, Kendall; nieces, Cheryl Lenox, Donna Loberg and Eilleen Wilcoxon; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews. She is preceded in death by her children, Celia and Larry; sister, Betty Driver (Bill); niece, Debbie Gage; nephews, Jay Johnson and Leonard Johnson; parents, Guy and Ida; and great-nieces, Amanda Lenox and Bobbi Jo Loberg. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church. A luncheon followed immediately after. (Paid Obituary)

Phyllis Johnston, “Miracle Eagle Woman,” age 88, of Spokane, Wash., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 2, 2024. Phyllis was born in Wolf Point on April 28, 1958, to her parents Leslie and Freda Fourstar. Phyllis was born without a heartbeat and her father prayed for her and raised his pipe in our native ways. He promised to thunderbirds that he would have a ceremony every spring for his daughter if she made it, and his miracle came true. Phyllis grew up in Wiota surrounded by her many siblings: Delores McConnell, Leslie “Sonny” Fourstar, Victor Fourstar Sr., Anthony “Tony” Fourstar, Florence Fourstar, Vernon Fourstar Sr. (Debbie, Spokane, Wash.), Phillip Fourstar Sr., Terrance Fourstar, Rodrick “Rick” Fourstar (Frazer, Mont.). She then moved to Frazer for high school at Flandreau High School. Phyllis left early to raise her first daughter, Lana Fourstar. She later acquired her GED and went on to culinary school and accomplished many other great successes. Phyllis was proceeded in death by her husband, Raymond Johnston; her parents, Leslie and Freda Fourstar; and her siblings, Delores McConnell, Leslie “Sonny” Fourstar Sr., Victor Fourstar Sr., Anthony “Tony” Fourstar, Florence Fourstar, Phillip Fourstar Sr. and Terrance Fourstar. She is survived by her children: Lana Fourstar of Frazer, Faith Clancy, followed by her only son Frederick Miller (Karen). She later had 12 grandchildren: (Lana) Brent, Breah, Brielle and Brady, (Faith) Kayden, Kalob, Kyler and Araya, (Fred) Frederick Jr., Mylah, Felix and Frankie. Phyllis was very loved by many nieces and nephews who she was very close to. She holds a special place in the heart for each and every one of them. Phyllis’ family is very large.
