A Wolf Point native who rose to the position of Montana’s governor has died. Ted Schwinden died on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the age of 98. Schwinden was born and raised on a farm north of Wolf Point. He was elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 1958. The Democrat served as the House majority whip in 1961. The 1943 Wolf Point High School graduate was a state spelling bee champion

The Roosevelt County commissioners approved an action to send a letter to the Montana Department of Transportation to request a speed study be conducted just outside of Culbertson. With the belief that the move will benefit county property taxpayers, the Roosevelt County Commissioners agreed on Tuesday, Oct. 3, to provide the state with 77.89 mills rather than the traditional 95 mills for public education. The resolution notes that the commissioners have determined that the correct number of mills to be levied for fiscal year 2024 for the state equalization aid is 32.90
