Lustre’s girls’ basketball squad jumped out to a strong start and downed Nashua, 3728, on Friday, Jan. 21. The Lions led 11-4 at the end of the first quarter and by an 18-10 half-time margin. Lustre then ran off 15 points in the third quarter for a 33-18 advantage. Top scorers for the Lions included Grace Brown with 14 and Alexa Reddig with 11 points. Aubri Holzrichter added eight points.

The Wolf Point Wolves suffered a 68-38 boys’ basketball defeat at Malta on Saturday, Jan. 22. The first-place Mustangs jumped out to a 21-6 advantage in the first quarter and held a 42-15 half-time lead. Malta held a 65-26 advantage after three quarters of play. Several area wrestlers were ranked in the latest Class B state wrestling poll. Mason Garfield of Wolf Point ranks third at 205 pounds. The top two ranked wrestlers are Glasgow’s Kyler Hallock and Huntley Project’s Stran Selman. Jase Frederick of Poplar ranks third and teammate Navarjo Escarcega is fifth at 120 pounds.
