Dale Ernest George, 66, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in Minot, N.D. He was born on May 20, 1956, in Powell, Wyo., to William Dean George and Joan Carol (Shelby) George. He spent his childhood in Basin, Wyo., and most of his school years in Glendive, where he graduated in 1974. After graduation, he worked many oilfield jobs until 1984 when he moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., and started work for Fred Hanson at Fred Hanson Construction and Canyon Concrete which started his passion for the concrete business. He later realized his love for flying planes and firefighting which took him all over the country. He made many longtime friends wherever he went with his jokes and straight-forward honest approach to life. He met Teri in 1994 in Townsend on one of his many firefighting adventures. He gained two sons and a daughter. Later that year, they welcomed another son to their blended family. Their adventures together led them to Wyoming for several years. They finally made their way back to Montana where they settled when he took a job at Sidney Red-E-Mix where he stayed until ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed driving Hercules (his cement truck), volunteering at the local fire department and watching FOX News. He was known for his political t-shirts and his many quick-witted jokes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie George. He is survived by his wife, Teri Jo George; children, Seth George, Shannon Smith, Shane Bucy and Shawn Bucy; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Gloria Steppler Paladichuk of Beaverton, Ore., formerly of Sidney, died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St Vincent Medical Center in Beaverton. She was born Oct. 14, 1943, to Dave and Frances Steppler. She was one of seven siblings and is now reunited with sisters Clara, Joanne, Kathleen and brother Jimmy. She was raised on the farm in the Elmdale community, and her education began in Timmons, a one-room school. She graduated Sidney High School early and attended business school in Denver, Colo. She married Jim Paladichuk on July 7, 1962. They raised two children in Sidney: daughter Deedra and son Brian. She purchased a movie camera to record many family events and loved spending summers at their cabin at Fort Peck, affectionately called “Little Sidney.” Her favorite activities at the cabin were waterskiing and visiting around the campfire with friends and family. She and Jim always shared the love of music and dancing. State Farm Insurance Agency was the start of her career. Once her long-time bosses retired, she decided it was time for a career change and ran for Richland County Treasurer. She was elected and served from 1981-1988. In 1989, she decided to run for Richland County Commissioner and was elected as the first woman county commissioner of Richland County and served from 1989-1994. She and Jim moved to Helena in 1995, where she lobbied for Richland County for several legislative sessions. She was a great leader and ahead of her time as a woman. They moved to Beaverton in 2004 to be closer to their grandchildren. She had the kindest heart and always thought of others. She loved her family dearly and never forgot birthdays or holidays. She had a great sense of humor, smile, an infectious laugh and loved sharing stories. Even when she was critically ill, she was able to humor the doctors and nurses in the ER. She is survived by her two children, Deedra Howes of Beaverton, Ore., and Brian Paladichuk of Tigard, Ore.; several grandchildren; and two brothers, Donnie of Sidney and Robert of Seattle, Wash. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 1, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Jim O’Neil presiding.

Linda Lou Dschaak, 76, of Culbertson died April 3, 2023, at Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson. She was born Aug. 18, 1946, to Jake and Doris Lorenz in Glasgow. She became a wife and a mother at the young age of 20 when she married Hank Judd. The couple had two sons: Jeffrey Marcus and Donald Allen. Nothing brought her more joy than her two rowdy and turbulent boys. She soon decided to spread her wings back home to Montana where she met and married Kenny Olsen in 1980. They welcomed Jennifer into the world a tad early in January 1982. She took pride in many things. One thing you could always expect was for her to show up to any function and win best dressed. She never left home unless her face was on, nails were painted, and her outfit and hair were on point. Another great pride in her life was being called Grandma or Nana. Her eyes lit up when any of her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren walked into the room. She is survived by her two children, Jeff Judd of Fairview, and Jennifer Lambert of Culbertson; siblings, Gilbert Lorenz, Jack Lorenz, Jesse Lorenz, Ken Lorenz and Floyd Daniels; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her two sisters, Patty and Judy; brother, Jim; and son, Donald Allen. Private family services are being planned for the summer of 2023.
